This too shall pass...

Well, that's it. As of 1:00 this afternoon, I am officially done high school.
That's right folks, I wrote my last exam today. It was calculus, and it was a doozy. But now, I'm done! I have to go in tomorrow to return some of my textbooks, and see some of my teachers.
Everyone said that finishing high school would be sad, and in a way, it is. I'm going to miss walking the same way to school everyday, petting the same fluffy cat. It'll be really weird not living with my family, and seeing my friends whenever I feel like it. But at the same time, it's exciting. I'm going to university! I'm a real grown up now!
I've had the past two weeks off of work, and I've just been focusing on school, and my friends and family. Then, I get to work full time in July. Yippee.
So, moving on. I'm co-valedictorian of my class. Apparently the two of us have super close averages, which I think is totally cool. Plus, it means I'm not the only one giving a speech. Writing a speech was definitley hard. My teachers said to really talk about how I feel about high school. And so I did. Because I really have nothing more to post here, and it's after midnight, this is my speech.

As the old cliché goes, your high school years are supposed to be the best years of your life. Looking back, I know that I, and hopefully many of you, can say that that is indeed true. During our time here at Oilfields, we have all had the chance to grow and develop into the people we are today. So many exciting things have happened here over the past four years that it’s difficult to remember them all. We really have learned so much, not only about maths, sciences and the humanities, but about ourselves. Personally, I’ve learned, as I’m sure most of you have, that I cannot bake. Together, we’ve sat through countless classes, written tests, had our first loves, and our first heartbreaks. We’ve gone to dances, worked hard to plan school events, and received our drivers’ licences – well, most of us anyways. And, while these are significant events, some of the most memorable moments from the past four years have been the smallest ones. I know I’ll never forget laughing with my friends on one of our many junk food runs, frantically calling classmates for homework help, or staying up well into the night finishing an essay, or studying for a math exam. These are the moments that have truly made high school great, and it’s hard to believe that they’ve gone by so fast. It’s amazing how students from four different schools can come together, and how in just four years, classmates have become friends, and friends have become family. As we graduate, we need to remember to thank all of those people who have helped us get where we are today. To the parents, teachers, coaches and friends who have encouraged and supported us not only the past four years, but our entire lives, thank you. You deserve as much praise and congratulations as every graduate here. To my classmates, I hope that the coming years of your lives are even better than these last four. I hope that everything we’ve done together over the past four years will inspire and enable you to achieve your goals and dreams. Thank you, congratulations, and good luck.
